Pedaling for Prevention

Let’s face it, cancer sucks. But did you know 80% of cancer cases could be prevented through lifestyle changes such as exercise, diet and smoking habits? Research, much of it conducted at Fred Hutch, clearly shows that many of us can take more control of our own destinies.

Exercise, eat right, and don’t smoke! You’ve heard all of this before, but did you know that these healthy habits can also reduce your cancer risk? As February is Cancer Prevention Month, give it a shot:

1. Exercise: No surprise here. Just 30 minutes a day on most days of the week. NEWSFLASH: Obliteride! Hey, at least it’s a step in the right direction. Take the leap and register today!

2. Eat right: In the food pyramid for cancer prevention, it’s all about eating nine servings of fruits and vegetables every day.

3. Don’t smoke: Enough said. Don’t do it. Your life depends on it.
